Janet L. Frye

10/31/1942-12/23/2014

Rest in peace

Janet Louise Frye of Charlottesville, VA, died at her home on December 23, 2014, surrounded by family. Born October 31, 1942, she was the daughter of James Carson and Louise Elizabeth Dreitzler Biller. She was a physical therapist in Northern Virginia and North Carolina for more than 30 years. Janet loved the ocean and spent many happy hours fishing, boating, and SCUBA diving. She also enjoyed traveling, gambling, reading, and playing with her dog Calo. She was an amazing mom and friend.

She is survived by her daughter Julie Frye, son-in-law John Miller; son Jason Frye, daughter-in-law Joie Frye; and two grandsons, Jacob and Josh Frye. Other survivors include her sister-in-law Linda Post (Rod), cousin Virginia Tahboub (Sameer), niece Jennifer Sprecher (Glenn), nephew Jim Biller (Malinda), five great-nephews, and two great-nieces, as well as several dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her older brothers, James Eugene Biller and John Carson Biller.

A memorial service was held in Beaufort, NC, on 14 February at 2:00 at the Ann Street United Methodist Church. You can view a video of the brief service here, in Part 1 and Part 2.

In lieu of flowers, Janet requested donations be made to the Cape Lookout National Seashore Volunteer Program for the betterment of the Keeper's Quarters by the lighthouse.

We scattered Janet's ashes in the Cape Lookout Bight, on a beautiful, quiet, sunny morning, with dolphins swimming by and cormorants flying overhead. It is a perfect place for her to rest and it's where she wanted to be.
